Below is what the eclipse looked like using a sun spotter (just lenses and mirrors). Also had some solar telescopes set up but didn't have the technology to take a photo through that!
We only had 5% in Brisbane. Not that much excitement.
We won't see it in Australia, but the next total lunar eclipse will be on Feb 21. For western Europe and eastern US & Canada, all the action will take place high in the sky.
However, I've been psyching-up my friends in Vancouver who could see an eclipsed moon rise early in the evening of Feb 20. I also have a friend in Amman who (dust haze permitting) might see the first bit of sunlight touch the top of the moon just as it sets around 5:50 am on Feb 21. Should make an excellent photo.
If you know any of our diggers in Iraq, they should see a fully-eclipsed moon set.
I've been living in fabulous Melbourne since July 06 and can definitely say that the grass really is greener here - but I suspect that's because it rains a lot.
